Waiting on Wednesday: Article 5 by Kirsten Simmons

For those of you who don't know "Waiting On" Wednesday is an event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The purpose is to let others know which book you are anitcipating and can't wait til it comes out so you can read it.
Article 5

  • Publisher: Doherty, Tom Associates, LLC
  • Publication date: 2/14/2012
  • Pages: 368

  • Synopsis:
New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned.

The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.

There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don't come back.

Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren’t always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it’s hard for her to forget that people weren’t always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It’s hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different.

Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow.

That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings…the only boy Ember has ever loved.

    Why I am Waiting:
Another dystopian...Sign me up. =] I have been really loving the dystopians that have been coming out lately. They all seem so good and unique. I mean with this one all the normal rules of the government are gone. I definitely want to find out what happens. I can't wait for this one. I wish I could get my hands on an ARC of it. Here's wishing right. lol

Let me know in the comments what you are waiting for this week. =]

Happy Reading and Thanks for Visiting. =]

    -Michael

    1. I like heroes and heroines who have enough rebellion in them to spark an interest in me. Glad you featured this, Michael. I'm waiting for this one, too. :)

I'd be happy if you could give my WoW post some love:

    3. I don't why when I first looked at the cover it instantly reminded me of The Hunger Games trilogy (which I loved). Definitely putting this on my to-read list. Thanks for sharing!

    14. Dystopian was a genre that truly surprised me with how much I enjoy it! If you haven't already, you should check out the Chaos Walking trilogy (The Knife of Never Letting Go is the first in the series) - it's set far into the future, but its an interesting commentary on what would happen if we were forced to start all over; I loved it!
