In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities.

I freaking love this trailer. It gives me way more insight into what the book is about. It makes me way more exited for it to come out. I so can't wait to read it. I love any type of book that has to do with superpowers and I know that Victoria Schwab is just absolutely brilliant. Plus this trailer has stunning images in it. So can't wait for this one.

I have been in a blogging slump ever since I came back from vacation. I haven't really been up to blogging as much as I have in the past. I am still trying to read as much as possible and posting every now and then. Hopefully I will stay on track with my goal. Thanks for helping me keep my goals up. =]

Rapunzel's tower is a satellite. She can't let down her hair - or her guard.
In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker – unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

His intent had been to bring down the Dome from the inside with the help of the secret resistance force led by Partridge's former teacher Glassings. But from his new position of power, things don't seem quite as clear. Perhaps his father had been right. Perhaps if the world is to survive it needs the Dome--and Partridge--to rule it.

Outside the Dome Pressia and Bradwell continue piecing together the clues left to them by their parents from the time before the detonations. Soon they will be able to help heal the Wretches, freeing them from their monstrous fusings and the Dome's oppression once and for all. But their success also depends on Partridge. Can they still trust their friend and ally to see their plan through? Or will a new war begin?

My Thoughts/Review:

What intrigued me most about this book was the description and the adventure quality. It sounded so mythical and amazing at the same time. I have to admit that the beginning of this story was a little confusing but once you get into it and learn who the people are and what the land is about you can dive right into the action-packed adventure of the story.

I really liked the different characters and the main premise of the book. Leoros was an amazing main character, he really stole the book from the other characters. I loved getting inside his head and learning about everything he was going through. The basic premise of the book is that Leoros is with his parents in Egypt and he goes through a pillar into another world, called Potara. On Potara, he learns that he is able to manipulate energy with his feelings. Who wouldn't want to be able to manipulate energy with your mind and be able to fight and do stuff with it. Then more craziness ensues, don't want to give anything away, and he has to go on an amazing journey to find himself and go up against the bad guys.

The thing about this book is that it also has an evil and adult side. I wouldn't say it is 100% young adult, it is more grounded in fantasy, but if you can take some sexual scenes, violence and some talk about both of them then it is still a really great book and perfectly fine to read for the older young adults, not so much for the really young. I really also liked the evil and dark side to this book. The antagonists weren't really your average bad guys. You felt for the girls that had to do the bad things because that is how they were raised. This book really shows how people can become corrupt and power hungry very easily.

The other thing I really loved was that this book doesn't just stay with the main character telling the story it jumps from character to character. I even loved that it tells the story of Leoros' parents when they find out he is missing. I really liked the struggle of good versus evil and the battle that came from the opposing sides. Joshua Silverman is a really good writer and knows how to tell a story from start to finish. He takes you on a ride through worlds and a variety of different characters to bring an amazing story to the page. I really can't wait to read more from Joshua Silverman.

I really suggest reading this book if you love young adult but can stomach more of an adult theme for a younger genre novel. All of the characters really have depth and good backgrounds worked into their stories. I also really liked the young romance that happened and hopefully will blossom even more in the next book. I really can not wait to read the next installment of this series and to be able to delve back into the world. The one small complaint I have is that the story was a little bit long and could have ended earlier instead of having so much description and things going on in the beginning. I was very pleasantly surprised by all the twists and turns and I really suggest reading it to everyone that likes mythology, fantasy, sci-fi, and young adult. I really suggest picking up a copy, you really won't be disappointed. I loved reading every minute of it. =]

Overall, I give this book:

As a young kid growing up in a farm town, Ross Mathews might as well have wished for a pet unicorn or a calorie-free cookie tree to grow in his front yard. Either of those far-fetched fantasies would have been more likely to come true than his real dream: working in television in Hollywood, California. Seriously, that stuff just doesn't happen to people like Ross. But guess what. It totally did.

Now, with his first book, Ross takes us inside his journey as a super-fan, revealing the most embarrassing and hilarious moments of his small-town life and big-city adventures. From learning to swear like a hardened trucker to that time in high school when had to face down the most frightening opponent of all (his girlfriend's lady bits), Ross holds nothing back. Oh, then there's his surprisingly shady past involving the cutest pair of plus-sized women's pajama bottoms, deliciously dangerous pot butter, and embezzled sandwiches. And, of course, how he's managed to turn an obsession with pop-culture into one-on-one interactions with celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Tiffani-Amber Theissen, Madonna, Michelle Kwan, and countless more without ever having a single restraining order issued against him.

Infused with Ross's trademark humor, unique voice, and total honesty, MAN UP! is a mission statement for anyone who doesn't fit the mold. His hasn't been the most traditional way to build a career in Hollywood, but Ross has somehow managed to make his mark without ever compromising who he is. He is as serious about this as he is about Golden Girls trivia: You don't need to change who you are to achieve your dreams (although there's nothing wrong with a makeover every now and then). You just need to Man Up!

My Thoughts/Review:

Ross Mathews started on the tonight show as an intern and he takes you on a journey through his life, through all of his ups and downs. This book brings a very good message to everyone that read its; to man up, to always be yourself and don't let people put you down for it. It is also laugh out loud funny.

With each new chapter came a new story that was even more funny than the last. I loved learning about Ross' life and all of his struggles that he had to go through. I have been following Ross every since he started on the tonight show. I used to follow his blog and watch all of his talkies. He is super funny and wrote a really touching uplifting fun read. I really can't wait for him to right another book. It was book that I really need to read, especially with being in a little slump in my life and what I have been reading.

The book even has a foreword by Gwyneth Paltrow, an afterword by Chelsea Handler, and a blurb by Jay Leno. What more can you ask for from a book. If you need a light, hysterical, and touching read I recommend you pick up this awesome book. You need to go out and get yourself a copy. If you buy it from Target, which I did, you can get an autographed copy. I really can't wait to see more from Ross Mathews.

Ruby never asked for the abilities that almost cost her her life. Now she must call upon them on a daily basis, leading dangerous missions to bring down a corrupt government and breaking into the minds of her enemies. Other kids in the Children’s League call Ruby “Leader”, but she knows what she really is: a monster.

When Ruby is entrusted with an explosive secret, she must embark on her most dangerous mission yet: leaving the Children’s League behind. Crucial information about the disease that killed most of America’s children—and turned Ruby and the others who lived into feared and hated outcasts—has survived every attempt to destroy it. But the truth is only saved in one place: a flash drive in the hands of Liam Stewart, the boy Ruby once believed was her future—and who now wouldn’t recognize her.

As Ruby sets out across a desperate, lawless country to find Liam—and answers about the catastrophe that has ripped both her life and America apart—she is torn between old friends and the promise she made to serve the League. Ruby will do anything to protect the people she loves. But what if winning the war means losing herself?

Why I am Waiting:

I absolutely loved The Darkest Minds. It was one of my favorite reads of 2012. I so can not wait for this sequel. I fell in love with Ruby and all of the other characters and their story. I can not wait to see how the it continues and what happens. If you haven't read The Darkest Minds yet then you freaking need to, like now. When I saw that the title and cover of this was on Goodreads I freaked out because I really can't wait, as I am sure you can tell since I just ranted about it so much. =]

Awesome comic. Weird, amazing, Sci-fi fantasy. Can't wait to read Volume 2. It is really hard to describe this comic, you have to go read the synopsis to understand what it is all about. Love that it was narrated by a baby. Also that it has two different sides fighting a war in space. Really loved this comic. I had such awesome writing and art. The story was so moving and interesting. I completely understand why a ton of people love it. =]

So glad I started this series. Awesome recommendation from Comicbookgirl19 from Youtube. Can't wait to delve more into this comic. Really like the change in art for the 4th issue. Can't wait to see where it is going to go. Love the characters like Wolverine, Iceman, Beast, Kitty Pryde and all the new X-men. Wish there was more issues in each volume though, a little expensive for only 4 issues. Wasn't so happy for the art for the first couple issues. Really hope that the art gets less cluttered as the comics go along. =]

Loved the part about Azula and her insanity. Really loved the secrecy about Zuko's mother. Can not wait to find out how the wolf spirit plays into this. Also can't wait to find out about the repercussions of the humongous shocker at the end of this part. Really can't wait. Loved the suspense, intrigue and mystery. This week's Question is:

Q: Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why

There are really not a ton of series that I have broken up with. I can only think of one and another one that I might break up with but will probably continue on with. So here they are.

(Click covers for Goodreads)

The first one that I have definitely broken up with is the Sookie Stackhouse series.

I read the first and second one and just gave up on them. There are a lot of books in this series and the main reason I started reading them was because of the TV show. The TV show in my opinion was better and I heard that the books and TV show are both different so I didn't want to continue. Also one of my friends says the story sort of disappoints as it kept going along, so I didn't have the need to read them anymore.

Another series that I might not continue on with is the Tiger's Curse Series.

I just didn't like the main character towards the end of the book, she really irritated me. I will probably continue, I just hope it gets better. I did really like the adventure and story for this one but if the main character doesn't believe in herself then why should I follow through on reading her story.
Let me know in the comments what your opinions are on my break ups. =]
Okay, I am going to be brutally honest. I don't like this cover at all. I think it looks way to cartoony. I mean, I still like the style of it and the overall feel, it just doesn't seem magical enough and as amazing as it could be. The first, sorcerers stone one looks way more amazing then this one. Plus they choose a really boring seen to depict. Maybe it is because the original covers will always be in my heart.

The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy’s instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea’s forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

They have no choice. If the demigods don’t succeed, Gaea’s armies will never die. They have no time. In about a month, the Romans will march on Camp Half-Blood. The stakes are higher than ever in this adventure that dives into the depths of Tartarus

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was the surprise best seller of 2011—an unprecedented mix of YA fantasy and vintage photography that enthralled readers and critics alike. Publishers Weekly called it “an enjoyable, eccentric read, distinguished by well-developed characters, a believable Welsh setting, and some very creepy monsters.”

This second novel begins in 1940, right after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine’s island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends flee to London, the peculiar capital of the world. There, they encounter a dangerous madman named Caul, who also happens to be Miss Peregrine’s brother. Caul has discovered a way to rob Peculiars of their abilities and steal them for himself—and it will take all of Jacob’s efforts to save his friends from certain extinction.

Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly creepy) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

My Thoughts on the Title and Excerpt:

I am so excited for this one to come out. I loved Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. Check out my review of it here. I can't believe I have to wait until Jan. 2014 though. The waiting is going to really kill me, I want to read it now. I really like the title for this one, I want to know what Hollow City means, it is really intriguing me. By looking at the excerpt, it seems that it starts right where the last book left off. To really enjoy this sequel, I will have to reread the first one, just so I remember it cause I read it so long ago, back in 2011. Overall, I really can't wait for this one to come out and I am so excited for it.

read this month. My list is full with notes and the dates that some books are
coming out so I can prepare to read them in the future. Some of them are
interchangeable with each other and I can choose to read whichever one I want.
Those that are crossed out are ones that I have read already within the month.
If I don't read them all they will carry over into the next month.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Isn’t that what they say? But how close is too close when they may be one in the same?

The Seven Stages War left much of the planet a charred wasteland. The future belongs to the next generation’s chosen few who must rebuild it. But to enter this elite group, candidates must first pass The Testing—their one chance at a college education and a rewarding career.

Cia Vale is honored to be chosen as a Testing candidate; eager to prove her worthiness as a University student and future leader of the United Commonwealth. But on the eve of her departure, her father’s advice hints at a darker side to her upcoming studies--trust no one.

But surely she can trust Tomas, her handsome childhood friend who offers an alliance? Tomas, who seems to care more about her with the passing of every grueling (and deadly) day of the Testing. To survive, Cia must choose: love without truth or life without trust.

Even posting them weeks in advanced, in a list format, would be a major help. Overall, there is nothing wrong with this hop.
